Hope you had a great Memorial Day.
We took a moment to talk to the kids about what Memorial Day means and why we honor those who have served our country. I hope that they were able to get at least a little of that today.
We also went with Ben and Anne out to Harper's Ferry. We have never been before and it was on our list of things to do.
It was a beautiful day and an interesting trip. I love being able to live so close to so many important historical sites.
Ben and Anne had been before and made excellent tour guides!
We looked around at some of the displays, had lunch by the Shenandoah River, fed the ducks, had a little ice cream, and even hiked up to Jefferson's Rock, so named because Thomas Jefferson had been there and proclaimed this sight one of the most beautiful he had ever seen. (See what I mean about history?)
And just for fun, we discovered where they grow marshmellows. (Okay, really they are just bales of hay covered in plastic, but we fooled the kids for a couple mintues.)

Love your new banner photo and I love Harper's Ferry. We went before Isaac was born and I also when as a young girl. It is such a great spot to visit with really amazing history. I miss that about living in VA. Glad you had a great day!

What a wonderful Memorial Day. Here in Utah it rained, and rained, and rained!! But we had our neighbors over for an inside picnic!

I fell in love with Harper's Ferry after our first trip a few months ago! Glad you got a pretty day to enjoy it!
I've went on a bike ride there and had ice cream but never did the hike, nor did I try those marshmellows...I'll be there tomorrow!
You truly are so lucky to be able to live in a place with so much history. And aside from that, it's gorgeous!!!
Love, love love the photo of your WHOLE family!!!
Rick and I laughed out loud for a good long while about the marshmellow fields. Hilarious! love you guys!
We had a marshmallow field by our old house. The kids were so sad when the mellows got hauled away.
