Out of the Mouth of Babes

I was getting dressed yesterday to go to the temple and Becky came in.

She says..."Whoa. Mom. You're hot."

Really?

My five year old?

Egads.

And wouldn't you know it.

She was right.

I had hot flashes the entire day.

ack.

DejaVu

Okay...first of all...I think I need to get rid of this shirt....cause it might be cursed.

Second of all....when I saw this scene today...I seriously had a major flashback.

Any wonder why? LOL!

Speed Racer

We had the blue and gold dinner last night and our pinewood derby.

It was really great. The boys worked so hard, I'm so proud of them.

Joe did such a great job on his car..other than having his dad cut it out, Joe did all the rest of the work.

As soon as it was cut out we realized how much it looked like the hover craft from Star Wars...so here was have the Tatootine Special, complete with Anakin and R2D2.

And...how happy was Josh when he found out that some of the scouts had not come...and he would get to race the car he had made.

The Silver Dragon:

Even Mikayla, Emma, Becky and Katie made cars.

Who knew scouts really could be family thing? lol!

Straight Cs?

When you are seven and you want to hit 5 Cs on the piano at the same time...what do you do?

You use everything you've got.

Go Ask Your Parents

I think all my primary kids got together and decided that they would play stump the teacher.

Was Jesus married?
Was Heavenly Father married?
How did Mary get pregnant?
Why do we want to go to the celestial kingdom? My parents said the others ones are nice too.

Oh man. Are you sure these guys are 8?

I Love Lucy, Episode 3512

The children are helping clean the house as I buzz around the kitchen, pleased at how the day is going.

The house is coming along nicely. There is a fruit salad in the fridge, crudite carefully cut and prepped, and a roast in the crock pot, all set for dinner.

The final touch will the the homemade chocolate cake, Ricky's (oh I mean Troy's) favorite.

[In case you can't tell...it's all going too well at this point.]

So...with everything cooked or nearly cooked, it's time to clean the kitchen.

I am wiping down the stove...and this is where the camera would pan in to watch me accidentally bump the temperature dial from a lovely 350 degrees to an unholy 500 degrees.

That's right. Totally unaware of the calamity that has just occurred, I go on my merry way, content to let the buzzer tell me that my cake it done.

Sadly for me...my nose told me first...as I smelled the acrid odor of charcoal emanating from the direction of my kitchen.

And thus concludes another episode. Tune in next time.

Crap.

Ode to the Pioneer Woman

Life is so busy sometimes that the last thing I want to think about is cooking.

I know...I have to...cause for some reason my children all think they need to eat three times a day (or more). Go figure.

But...I have been reading the pioneer woman and I have to say I have been inspired to cook again.

Troy's birthday dinner last night was courtesy of recipes she provides on her cooking blog and her new cooking website.

Who knew I could be gourmet?

But...as proof...scallops and pasta:

and Olive Oil Cakes with Lemon and Thyme:

I am so happy to be back in the kitchen and enjoying it!

The best part? My family has enjoyed it too.

Next up?

Orange Chicken

And...we already made this one: Butter Chicken.

YUM-O.

OHMYGOSH!!!!!

He's old.

That's right.

37.

Today.

And...it was no easy task, but here's 37 photos of Troy over the last year.

It's a small miracle there were 37.

You know how much he loves having his photo taken.

Oy.

He's gonna be mad at me.

Uh.

Love you babe.

Happy Birthday!

Rise Up

School is officially canceled for the week.

Troy is off work again.

And...we've been trying to pass the time.

This is what happens when you forget to put baking soda in the first batch of muffins.

Proof

Well, we dug out the driveway, sidewalks and mailbox. I think it was about 8 hours of shoveling over the last two days. Oy.

But the kids are having a good time, playing in the snow, digging tunnels and sleding.

I'm glad that they are enjoying it, cause who knows when they will go back to school. We are already canceled for tomorrow.

But...we are trying to keep them occupied and tried our hand at snow ice cream. Yum.

Troy has also found a way to keep himself busy, having finally come into the modern age and signing himself up for the "crack-like" addition that is facebook.

He did not want me to post this photo, since the idea of people seeing him in such casual attire offends him.

But...after all the crap he gives me about my own computer addiction, it seems only fair.

Plus he won't friend me on facebook. Lame.

Snowpocalypse 2010

Well...I think the snow has finally stopped...man, was that a lot of snow.

We are all fine...hunkered down with movies, books, and our family.

Oh...and the Kunz Family too, who no longer have power at their house.

Party city.

Now...we need to brace for the snow storm coming on Tuesday...and Saturday.

Eeek.

Is it spring yet?

Out of Sync

As we brace for what could prove to be the worst storm of the year...the schools are already closed, people have raided the grocery stores, there isn't a sled or snow shovel available for sale within a 100 miles o here...I have to wonder...why is my husband so out of sync with the rest of the world?

As I drove Troy to the train today to catch the last one into the city, there were just a handful of cars in what is normally a packed parking lot.

I swear...it could be our last day on earth and that man would insist on going to work.
