Snow Day. Serious?

So... we about a 1/4" of snow and naturally just had to have a snow day.

Here we are at about 10 am:

And here we are at 1 pm:

Dude. Why didn't we have school?

This is the Life

It's been such a fun snow day. The kids have played -- and played hard.

Mikayla and her friends made a giant snowball. And I do mean GIANT! They started small at the top of the hill and by the time it rolled down to the bottom and with a little additional snow...it was massive.

Then the girls turned it into the slide of death. Biggest ice cube...EVER.

Becky tried her hand at snowboarding...and she was amazing!

Emma and Josh spent some time making a snowman.

Joe spent some time digging tunnels in the snow. He wanted to show off his best side.

Oh wait. I think he meant this one.

And now, we've ended the evening with a massive sleepover.

And a big projection movie on the wall of the family room.

 Now this is the life.

It's All About Timing

Snow.

The kids had a blast, playing in the snow today.

Me? Not so much.

Troy, of course, was out of town today. He has impeccable timing, eh?

Shoveling the driveway wasn't so bad...it was the six feet into the road I had to shovel cause the snow plows only did the other half of the street. ack.

But...now that the shoveling is all behind me...I am going to sit my aching body down and watch the kids sled.

Now that the work is done...nothing left to do but enjoy the time off.

It is pretty isn't it?

be careful what you wish for

Well, the kids have been wishing for snow...wearing their pajamas backwards, flushing ice down the toilet...I can't even think of all the stuff.

And after three fake "snow" days...we finally have the real deal.

Bring it on.

Let It Snow. Let It Snow. Let It Snow.

We had our first snow today. It wasn't much -- just enough to mess everything up.

Gotta love Virginia.

But, the kids thought it was great nonetheless.

It takes just about as long to get them ready as they want to stay outside.

And of course..this one..as soon as I got her complete dressed and was ready to send her out the door...she says, "Mom. I gotta poop." Ack.

And...sweet Becky got a new haircut. Isn't she adorable?

Rise Up

School is officially canceled for the week.

Troy is off work again.

And...we've been trying to pass the time.

This is what happens when you forget to put baking soda in the first batch of muffins.

Proof

Well, we dug out the driveway, sidewalks and mailbox. I think it was about 8 hours of shoveling over the last two days. Oy.

But the kids are having a good time, playing in the snow, digging tunnels and sleding.

I'm glad that they are enjoying it, cause who knows when they will go back to school. We are already canceled for tomorrow.

But...we are trying to keep them occupied and tried our hand at snow ice cream. Yum.

Troy has also found a way to keep himself busy, having finally come into the modern age and signing himself up for the "crack-like" addition that is facebook.

He did not want me to post this photo, since the idea of people seeing him in such casual attire offends him.

But...after all the crap he gives me about my own computer addiction, it seems only fair.

Plus he won't friend me on facebook. Lame.

Snowpocalypse 2010

Well...I think the snow has finally stopped...man, was that a lot of snow.

We are all fine...hunkered down with movies, books, and our family.

Oh...and the Kunz Family too, who no longer have power at their house.

Party city.

Now...we need to brace for the snow storm coming on Tuesday...and Saturday.

Eeek.

Is it spring yet?

Got a Shovel?

6 pm and still snowing...the view out the back door.

2 pm

No End In Sight

We got woken up last at 2 in the morning.

One of the kids?

Oh. I just wish.

Instead it was three crazy guys who were stuck in the snow and trying to get their car out of the middle of the road.

It was seriously like a bad three stooges episode, but all in Vietnamese.

Really...I didn't know what they were saying, but it was hilarious (as much as it could be at 2 am) to listen to them scream at each other...and you could just tell they each thought the others were total dorks.

They kept pushing on the car and switching drivers and after I don't even know how long managed to wedge their car up onto the curb.

Troy actually got out of bed to go and help them, but it turns out they had destroyed one of the tires by ramming into the curb, so the car wasn't going anywhere.

All I can say is that I am glad I'm snug and warm at home.

All's Quiet...Thank Goodness

It's been quiet here on the homefront.

We've already had our first big snow of the season...which is the earliest it has ever snowed here since we moved here.

The kids were excited to get out and building snow men and sled.

I have been trying to take it easy...de-stress my life -- which is a lot easier said than done.

But...we are enjoying this Christmas season. It's such a festive time of year.

I have high hopes of picking up my camera and sharing it with you...we'll see how that goes.

Guess Who?

Well, I have been saying that if it's going to be THIS cold, then it might as well snow.

And snow it did!!!!

61/365 (3/2) Let It Snow!!!

Can you even tell it's Becky underneath all that stuff? It was COLD, but the kids insisted on playing outside. They all played and played and played until they came inside frozen, chapped, and tired. All in all, the perfect day.

Well, except for the dirty, rotten kids who stole our sleds!!!! Right out of our yard. We had four outside, and now only have one (plus they stole the Kunz' sled too). Seriously, what is wrong with people?

It's going to a fight to the death tomorrow to see who gets to use the sled we have left!

And to catch up over the weekend:

60/365 (3/1)Photo Op

I have had like six banker boxes full of photos staring at me for I don't know how long. Well, I finally did it. I sorted through them and weeded it down to these 3000 or so photos that need to be scanned. Um. That won't take too long, right?

59/365 (2/28) Always Prepared

It was the Primary Quarterly activity. Joe and his scout troop helped organize a little service project for the troops. What a great idea. Joe is becoming quite the young man. He will be 10 soon, and unfortunately, the only Webelo in our ward. So, come April, he will be attending scouts with another ward. One more night of activities for us. Can you feel the love?

Don't Need No Stinkin' Gym

So, normally, after the kids head out to school, Katie (and sometimes Becky) and I head to the gym.

Well, when school is cancelled, it just doesn't happen.

But today. I did not need the gym. Today, I had the total body workout that is know as snow shoveling.

28/365

And as much fun as snow is on the first day, it's a little less fun when it turns to ice on the second day.

While I was out this morning, I watched as my neighbor slid down the length of his driveway that had become a sheet of ice. It was terrifying and hysterical at the same time. (I know. I'm bad.)

So while I do not need the gym today, I do, however, need a massage!

Snow Much Fun!!!

Oh my word. We have been waiting for this day for two years! Holy cow. A snow day.

I wasn't much...but of course, it doesn't take much out here for EVERYTHING to completely shut down.

The kids were so excited to watch it snow, and they could not wait to get outside.

They had a lot of fun...and I did too. I really enjoy these snowy days where we don't have anywhere to go, and can just play all day.

Of course, reality is going to hit soon enough, since Troy is out of town and I did not shovel out a thing today. Our driveway is going to be one giant slab of ice come the morning. Oh well. At least we had fun today.

27/365

I think Josh looks a little tired here. LOL!

Woo hoo!!!!

It's snowing. yay!!!!! The kids are getting ready to head out into the snow, so hopefully I will have some fun photos in a little bit.

You know it takes a good hour to get everyone into their snow clothes so they can come running back inside after 10 minutes. big sigh. At least they love it.

Here's a few 365 photos.

24/365 Sacrilege

Well, I don't know if you knew, but I gave up caffeine in December. It actually hasn't been too bad, and I haven't had a ton of cravings. But I was not feeling well today, and more than anything, I just wanted really wanted a coke zero. oh, heavenly coke zero. So, I asked Troy to get me one, and he brought this home instead. ack. THIS is NOT the REAL THING!

25/365 ow!

This is my son. I have no doubt. I mean, I gave birth to him, so I KNOW he's my son. But he is my son in so many other ways. While he was playing outside today, his hat slid down over his eyes, and rather than fix it, he ran into a pole. ow. That's my boy.

26/365 A Storm Is Coming!

It's supposed to snow tomorrow, so everyone knows, you ALWAYS have to go to Wal-Mart the day before a storm to stock up on bread and milk. I think it might even be a law here. Luckily, we went early enough in the day that there was still some left. (Let me just add here, that I actually did need to go to Wal-Mart, it was just my poor timing that it happened at the same time as EVERYONE else needing to go to too!)

Let It Snow

Well, we had our first real snow of this winter season. The kids were really excited. All had high hopes for a snow day, but no...just a delayed opening.

And no matter how much it snows, you can always count on our girls to find just enough to make snowmen.
