I Pity the Fool (And Today, That's Me)

Well, our ward got split today, and I have to say...it sucks.

We have lived through this once before, but it wasn't too big a deal then because I wasn't especially close to anyone who changed.

But that isn't the case this time.

And I know that I am just being dumb...these people aren't moving...their houses are just as far away this evening as they were this morning! But for some reason, the wall that is called a ward boundary seems so high.

I am sure that it will all be just fine...but for today, I am having a little pity party.

In addition to finding out that the ward was being split, we found our that our other really good friends are moving...to BUTTSVILLE. Okay, that isn't what it's really called...but wouldn't it have been funny?

I think the drama a ward split causes is so funny. But I only went through it a year after we moved here so I guess it would be harder now. But I know what you mean the wall does seem high!

Crazy how an invisible line can cause so many emotions!

I'm still here, though, and I'm still gonna bug you, and call you to cry (heehee), and watch your kids and wait by the door for my Rita's--maybe I should get you a Rita's...

Oh my goodness, i really know how you feel. The first 2 splits for me weren't bad, but this last one was really hard for me. I was part of the pity wagon for a good week! Good luck!

Our ward is gonna have to be split or somehow changed at some point.
I am in no way looking forward to it. Luckily, I think leaders are pretty sympathetic to the feelings this causes -- hopefully you'll do some joint stuff for a bit.

When it rains, it pours, huh? Oh, maybe that wasn't the most appropriate thing to say. You'll survive this like you survived your own move to BUTTSVILLE, I mean, Manassas, and you'll end up with more new friends and an even better Christmas card list. Just wait and see.

We leave and the ward goes to pot, huh? I guess we "got out" just in time! I'm glad I didn't have to be there to witness it!

So who is moving?? Is it someone we know??

Don't ride the fence on how you feel, Denise. Your titles always crack me up! Hey, what am I? Chopped liver! I'm still here.

It's really not that far away!! It's only a 20 minute drive. (And it's not even official yet.) There will be plenty of room for you guys to come and play and even stay if you don't mind the floor. :) Plus, how many times do people come out there for Cows N Corn and the orchards? The splitting of wards really only made it easier to go. We are still going to be in the stake anyway.

Sounds like you've had a rough weekend with the flood and the split! It's amazing what ward boundaries can do...the neighbors across the street are in a different ward, and DEL and I were just talking last night about how we feel we could have been even better friends with them if we were in the same ward - even though they're only a few yards away :)

I know what you mean. I feel your pain. This ward has split 3 times. It's hard every time.
