The Boy Who Cried Wolf

So, Joe is getting ready to turn nine...and still enjoying scouts.

(Which is WAY MORE than his mother can say about it! But that's another post all together.)

Anyway. We had pack meeting last night (where the give out awards) and Joe received his Wolf badge and 4 arrow points. For those of you who are unfamiliar with scouts, this means that to earn his wolf he completed 12 achievements, which required him to do 58 individual tasks. And each arrow point required 10 additional tasks.

He is amazing!

And when he actually turns nine he will begin to work on his bear...new achievements, new tasks...oh joy.

Yea way to go. He looks very sweet in his scout outfit. Did you get to do all the fun little cheers for them?

I know that Scouts is a good program for the boys to be involved in, but it sure is a pain for the parents! And wouldn't you know that I just got put in as the Primary counselor over the scouts....lucky me.

Christopher LOVES scouts! I have really seen the good that it does for him. The program can seem like a pain for parents, but I think it is worth it.

The different requirements give me ideas for things to do with Christopher, saving me the effort of trying to come up with things on my own.

Of course if you think being the parent of a cub scout is a pain, you should try being a cub scout leader.

Yeah, try being the LEADER!!! Hint hint, that is what I am!! So along with having a son in cub scouts, I get to spend once a week with 9 other stinky, smelly, obnoxious boys!!! I know the program is wonderful for the boys, but I truly believe that there are certain people who are equipped for this calling. That personal, certainly is not me. But I am going on 2 yrs and I'm desperately striving to change my attitude!!!
By the way, it gets better with Weblos. Most of the requirements are done in the den.
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox.
