Paranoia?

So, talk of the swine flu is reaching epic proportions.

It's on the news. It's in the newspaper. A letter has gone home from school. People are talking about it at church.

So, yesterday, Joe, who has really bad allergies, was coughing a little.

He said he didn't feel well and went off to bed.

Not a minute passed when Mikaya came up to me with a very concerned expression on her face..."Mom, does Joe have the swine flu?"

ack. no.

p.s. He's fine.

Poor kids who don't understand the perils of modern media hype! My kids have also expressed concern about it.

Lucky you! I'm pretty sure we all have it...but no one has died yet. And I'm thinking that the media has blown it out of proportion. :)

My kids have been worried about it too. I think "paranoia" perfectly describes the way the press has been handling it's coverage of this disease. We have thousands who die every year from the "regular" flu....and how many deaths have occured so far from the swine variety?

DS got sick with something that we really don't know what it was. Someone asked if I was worried it was swine flu. NOPE!

Paranoia is the right word. The media relly knows how to play it up.
