Well. It's not going well. Not well at all.
The diet I mean.
I have gained and lost the same two pounds several times over the last few weeks.
And I wonder if I'm ready for this.
I see other people doing it, and having great success, and I think...hey! I can do this.
Then I go back to my regularly scheduled life.
Things are good, but it's a really busy time of year and I'm a stress eater. This combination is surely the quickest way to diet failure I can think of.
But...I gave myself a gift.
I gave myself a year. Resolving that gain or lose or even just staying the same...I will make changes in my life that I believe in the long term will be of great benefit...and continue to try to work my diet program.
I'm making better food choices.
I'm moving a little more.
I'm trying to make changes that I think will be healthy and enhance my life.
So...even though I'm nearly back where I started at my first weigh in (which, BTW, starting a diet right before spring break is just silly)...I'm committed.
And...that my friends...is a victory in and of itself.

I think that is perfect. I gav myself a year on weight watchers.
We've got nothin' but time. :)
Sounds like a solid plan, Denise.
Good for you, keeping a positive atitude on the whole diet issue! Remember, with all of those busy and/or stressful situations, you probably would have gained weight if you hadn't been trying to loose it. I find my dieting efforts only work when I'm totally 'ready' for it, i.e. completely frustrated with my reflection in the mirror (or worse, on photos!!), which can keep me morivated for up to 6 months or so. Good luck with it!
That is what it is about. Making healthier choices and feelings good about yourself. Forget the scale! I think people need to be less obsessed about their weight and be more about their health [if that makes sense].
Your commitment inspires me. I know that you can make kt work for you.
So, I somehow randomly happened upon your blog today and saw this post from a few weeks ago. Feeling "weighed down" huh? Let me say this: you can do it. As a guy who lost 50 (yes 50 pounds) then managed to put it back on moving across the country, I can say that the hard thing is not losing the weight, it is changing the mindset. Until you do that, it doesn't matter how much weight you lose. But, you (of all people I know) CAN do it. Just take it a day at a time, my friend. Thanks for inspiring me. I was going to visit my local Boise 5 Guys today. I guess I'll have a salad instead!

So, I randomly took a look at the blog to see how things are going, and what do you know, an entry on dieting! I know this post was from a few weeks ago Denise, so hopefully you are still working hard. As a man who lost 50 (yes, FIFTY) pounds and then managed to put it all back on in one summer of moving across the country, let me just say that all you can do is take it one day at a time. Good luck and keep us posted on your efforts. You have inspired me to skip the trip to the local Boise 5 Guys...I think I'll have a salad instead!
