So I was watching Oprah the other day. I KNOW, I am SUCH a woman of leisure!
Anyway. She was interviewing Seal and Heidi Klum about having a good marriage. Seal said that he considers Heidi FIRST to be his best friend and THEN to be his wife.
He said that he does this because he would never dream of taking his best friend for granted, or hurting them, or being mean or rude to them, whereas, sometimes with our spouses we are less careful about what we say and what we do.
I thought that this was a true statement. I guess its because we are so comfortable with our spouses, or so sure of their love, we don't worry about losing it...like we might with a friend...but shouldn't we be even more careful with our spouses tender feelings...and treat them BETTER than we would anyone else?
I am guilty of not always doing that.
So, I guess I just wanted to say that I feel lucky that my best friend and my husband are the same person.
(Maybe Troy has been gone too long...mushy me.)

I think this is a good reminder for all of us - I know I sometimes tend to be less careful and considerate of the ones I love the most.
This is such a great reminder. I have learned in the last few years that when my husband begins to irritate me, I need to serve him. I can't tell you how much that has changed our relationship. It's amazing how service can soften the heart.
I saw that same Oprah and thought the same thing. Every once in awhile I try to think and be like I was when we were dating. Everything I did, I did you for him and his comfort. When I do that he always says something like, "What's up? What do you want?" I guess he's not usta being treated well any more.
Good though.
Daniel gets the worst of me on a regular basis, because I know he can handle it. I need to make sure he gets the best of me more often, because I know he deserves it.
I too am so grateful to be married to my very best friend! We are so blessed.
You're my best friend, and I'll try not to take you for granted because your wonderful, and I love you!!
